Happy birthday to Alex

who are you?

styrofoam - aka arne van petegem. i've released three albums on morr music over the past five years, did some other releases for various labels as well as remixes for giardini di miro, the american analog set...

on what records/releases have you used smartelectronix software?

i think i started using smartelectronix software a lot on the "to simply lie here" 7" on morr. i did a remix for the american analog set of a song called "the postman" which uses buffer override, transverb and skidder. these and more are also heavily used on a lot of songs on my "i'm what's there to show that something's missing" album. there's also some scrubby use on this album on the track "forever, you said forever". i also used the buffer override quite a lot on a remix i did for an italian band called giardini di miro, as well as on some songs i produced for their new album "punks... not diet".

in what ways do you use our plugins?

i use lots of these plug-ins when i play live sets with ableton live. transverb is great for adding "octaved" layers of noise underneat or above guitar loops. i also use skidder and/or buffer override a lot to mess around with my vocals. i have some standard settings i'm using all the time for transverb that are working perfectly with what i'm doing.

what do you think about smartelectronix software/mentality?

all people involved in smartelectronix should get a statue.

what kind of things would you like to see in the future from smartelectronix?

i'm always wondering what would happen if smartelectronix would develop their own sampler/synth or some hybrid effect/synth/sampler which captures incoming audio and turns it into the most exciting sounds ever heard.

do you know any other artists that use our software?

there must be lots of them - i'm recommending it to people all the time.
